The fundamental objective of the Ph.D program in Business Administration at Çankaya University is to educate qualified scientists who will be able to analyze the developments that occur in Turkish and global business environments and interpret those developments in the context of fundamental fields of the business administration. In addition, our program aims to educate qualified scientists who will be able to teach courses and make research in universities as well as who will be able to focus on research in public and private sector institutions in the context of fundamental fields of the business administration.     

The Ph.D dissertation that will be prepared at the end of the doctoral study has to make one of the following contributions:

  1. Novel contribution to the science,
  2. Development of a new scientific methodology,
  3. Application of an existing methodology to a new field.

Ph.D program in Business Administration is primarily focused on theory and research.

The objectives of the program are as follows: 

  1. To give theoretical knowledge related to one of the business fields, which the student chooses, at doctorate level. These fields are management and organization, finance, decision science and operations management, marketing.
  2. To give detailed theoretical knowledge related to one of the business fields that the student intends to prepare a dissertation about.
  3. To prepare a Ph.D dissertation that is in compliance with the characteristics mentioned above by applying the theoretical knowledge acquired during the doctoral coursework and make a contribution to the business literature through this PhD dissertation.

If the bachelor’s or master’s degree of the student is different from business administration or a related field the student must follow a scientific preparatory program. Courses that must be taken during the scientific preparatory program are determined by the department.

Candidates must specify their fields (management and organization, finance, decision science and operations management, marketing) when they apply for the program. Candidates are admitted to the field that they apply for. Ph.D program in Business Administration is made up of two compulsory and seven elective courses. Four of the elective courses are directed electives. Students must take directed elective courses based on the field that they choose. The remaining three elective courses may be chosen from the selected field or from other fields. Remaining three elective courses should be selected by the dissertation supervisor along with other academic staff whose field of specialization is the same as the student’s field of dissertation. PhD candidate has to present a seminar based on the findings of a research in the business field that he/she intends to prepare a dissertation. Other requirements of the program consist of succeeding the two-stage qualifying exam, which covers the written and oral portions, preparation and successful defense of a Ph.D dissertation proposal, as well as preparation and successful defense of a Ph.D dissertation.       

The language of instruction of the Ph.D program in Business Administration at Çankaya University is Turkish.

Additional Information: Ph.D. courses take place in the campus located in Yüzüncü Yıl at 13.40, 14.40 or 15.40.
